Practice after setup

After installation and your first session, practice everyday use with a short entry. Follow the phone section only after synchronization has been configured.

Self setup customers install Lifebase themselves using the guides and can practice with this page. The separate installation and training service covers setup on one computer and 30 minutes of live usage training after verification. Multi-device synchronization and a new Hermes setup are optional services. If you already have a working Hermes environment, we connect it to Lifebase. If you do not have one and have not ordered the separate Hermes setup service, we use Codex. Use the tool connected during setup for the exercises below.

Open Obsidian on your computer and select your installed Lifebase vault. A vault is the folder containing your notes and settings. Open the folder identified during setup rather than creating a new vault.

Find today’s daily note under Journal in the file list. If it does not exist yet, ask your connected AI agent:

Read this vault's AGENTS.md. If today's daily note exists, tell me where it is. Otherwise, create it using the Lifebase rules. Preserve existing records.

Your agent must use the same folder as Obsidian. Sending a message in an ordinary AI chat does not give it access to local notes. If the connection is missing, see AI agents.

Check: Today’s note opens in Obsidian at the location reported by the agent.

In the diary area of today’s note, write two or three sentences about something that happened or that you want to remember. Keep existing text and continue writing. Write your own experiences or tell the agent what happened; it does not need to invent missing experiences.

Open another note, then use Obsidian search to find a distinctive word from the entry and return to it. You can also search by date or file name.

Check: The entry is still there and you can reopen it from search. You do not need to organize every folder or write a long diary entry to start.

An appointment at a fixed time belongs in your daily schedule. An action you need to finish belongs in your tasks. Replace the dates, times, and details below with your actual plans.

I have an appointment tomorrow from 14:00 to 15:00, with 30 minutes of travel each way. Add it to tomorrow's schedule and tell me which note changed. Tell me first if it overlaps with another appointment.
Add an Action for tomorrow to pack the library book I need to return. The return deadline is this Friday. Do not create a duplicate if that action already exists.

An Action is a task you can complete in one step. Use a Task Note when you need several steps and supporting information. Open the saved note and check that the scheduled date and the actual deadline are correct.

Report what actually happened when completing a task:

I packed the book in my bag. Complete that Action. I have not returned the book yet.

Check: The appointment appears on the right day, the action is recorded as a task, and only the work you finished is marked complete. See Tasks for the distinctions and the task board.

Include your goal, the relevant dates or materials, and anything that must be preserved.

Review today's tasks and confirmed appointments, then propose a plan for the remaining afternoon. Keep the time after 18:00 free and leave my diary writing unchanged. Tell me about unknown durations rather than treating guesses as confirmed.

Open the changed notes as well as reading the response:

  • Are the dates, times, and deadlines correct?
  • Are your writing and confirmed appointments still there?
  • Did it create duplicate tasks or appointments?
  • Has anything unconfirmed been marked complete?

Give a specific correction when something is wrong. Repeating the same request can create duplicates; ask the agent to check the current notes and its previous changes first.

The appointment you just added is for the day after tomorrow, not tomorrow. Change the date of that entry only. Do not add a new entry.

Open Obsidian on your phone and select the Lifebase vault configured during setup. Do not create a new empty vault with the same name.

Follow this section if you ordered synchronization setup or configured it yourself. These instructions cover a computer and phone connected through Syncthing. Confirm support and the synchronization method before setting up an iPhone. Obsidian is where you edit notes; Syncthing or a compatible phone app transfers the files between devices.

  1. Check that Syncthing is running on both devices and they are connected. A sleeping or powered-off computer cannot send its changes immediately.
  2. Wait for the computer’s changes to synchronize and for the Lifebase folder to report Up to Date.
  3. Open the note for the same date on your phone and check that the text is there.
  4. Add a short sentence on your phone and wait for synchronization to finish.
  5. Reopen the note on your computer and check that the new sentence appears.

Do not edit the same note on both devices at once during this exercise. Follow the instructions for the app selected during setup to check its status. Also check that attachments such as photos open on both devices. If you configured a different synchronization method, check the equivalent results in that service’s status screen.

If you use Syncthing-Fork on Android, make sure it is allowed to run in the background. If changes arrive only when you open the app, check battery and automatic-start settings. Compatible iPhone apps have background limits; you may need to open the app to finish synchronization before using Obsidian. See Möbius Sync’s explanation of these limits.

With Möbius Sync, check that synchronization finishes both before and after editing. Open Möbius to receive changes from your computer, then write in Obsidian. When you finish editing, return to Möbius to send your changes to the computer. Check that the other computer is awake and connected. Background synchronization may occur, but immediate execution is not guaranteed; closing an app does not prove that the transfer finished.

Synchronizing notes and running an agent remotely are separate capabilities. Without a separately configured remote AI environment, use your phone to read and write notes and run AI tasks in the computer environment set up for you.

Stop making further edits. Check that both devices have the same vault open, have an internet connection, and report normal synchronization. If conflict files appear, do not delete or overwrite them before checking which content to keep. If the issue persists, preserve both copies and ask for help.

Synchronization can propagate deletions, so it serves a different purpose from an independent backup. Do not enable another synchronization service over the same vault. Before changing devices or methods, check your existing setup and backup, and read Obsidian’s synchronization guide.

Write what you actually did and any schedule changes in today’s note, then ask:

Wrap up today. I have written my diary and what actually happened. Preserve my writing, leave unconfirmed tasks incomplete, and tell me what changed.

Review the updated schedule, tasks, and agent summary. You do not need a perfectly organized entry every day. Missing information should remain missing rather than being invented. See Daily planning for more examples.

Obsidian, your Lifebase workspace, and your AI tool have separate updates. Follow the official CLI guide for Lifebase. Do not overwrite your existing folder with a fresh installation to recover notes.

All new products, including Self setup, include access to new releases at no additional charge, user community access, and help through public community questions. Purchasing installation and training also includes two weeks (14 days) of individual technical support after completion. You can access new Lifebase releases without another purchase, with no update-access cutoff based on your purchase date. Performing updates remotely, resolving conflicts in your environment, and configuring additional features are individual technical support work. After the two weeks, agree on the scope and price before requesting that work.

Follow-up support for installation and training includes two weeks of messaging support and one follow-up remote session of up to 30 minutes. This is additional to the initial installation, verification of purchased options, and 30 minutes of usage training. Self setup alone does not include this individual support. Self setup customers can still report license delivery or authentication issues and product bugs. Correcting errors in the setup we delivered does not count against the follow-up remote session. Work beyond the included session or time, additional devices, and new feature setup require a separate quote.

Purchasing synchronization or Hermes setup separately includes two weeks (14 days) of messaging support for that configuration after the work is completed. We correct errors in the configuration we delivered without an additional consultation fee, including any remote work needed for that correction. Other remote consultations are paid services with scope and price agreed beforehand. Buying an option does not restart or extend support for earlier installation and training, or add another included follow-up remote session.

For individual technical support, use Kmong messages or a Discord DM to the administrator. You receive a Discord invitation after purchase; joining Discord is optional, and support remains available through Kmong messages. Check your handover information for the invitation link, the administrator’s account, and the exact support start and end times. If you switch channels for the same issue, mention your earlier inquiry.

During the included two weeks of messaging support, we provide a first reply within one business day, on weekdays. If the issue needs further investigation, we explain the next steps. Remote work is scheduled by agreement. The first-reply timeframe is not a deadline for resolving the issue.

Both Self setup customers and customers whose two weeks of individual support have ended retain update access and can freely ask questions and chat in the Discord channel exclusively for Lifebase users, at no additional charge. Members can help each other and share how they use Lifebase; an individual reply or solution from the administrator is not guaranteed for every question. Community questions are free. Separate technical work, such as remote diagnosis, recovery, or additional setup, proceeds after you agree on its scope and price. If you previously purchased a different product, check its purchase terms. For other product issues, see Troubleshooting.
